Beyonce, JLo, Christina Aguilera, Aaliyah, Britney, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Hilary Duff… Many of the iconic musicians and actresses we associate with 90s pop culture embraced the paisley bandana like it was their own child. They tied it around their head and paired it with large golden hoops and tiny sunglasses or wore it like a top over some bootcut jeans. The humble bandana became a stylistic addition to any outfit.
While paisley’s tight connections to the music scene came around the ‘60s with psychedelic style, Summer of Love and the Beatles, here at TOM we are less flower child and more 90s cool chick. As the lover of all things 90s, we jumped at the opportunity to recreate the iconic piece — with a classic TOM twist of course... We used the staple TOM green and a decadent cream color in our designs.
The bandana always makes a comeback. Looking back at its recent resurgence in 2019 and 2020 respectively, I can confidently say that the bandana is here to stay. It can be worn in many different ways; tie it around your head, your body, your neck… Or use it as a belt, as a little pop of color on your bag, as a stylish addition to your dog’s collar. The world is your oyster when it comes to the bandana.
