September is always a bittersweet month. It's the month we bid adieu to minimal clothing, taking a dip in the sea before breakfast, to summer heat and freezing drinks. After three delightful months filled with the shades of blue, we welcome the new colors that will be prevalent in the months that follow; reds, dark shades of oranges and greens! Yes, the current forecast may not reflect it, but fall is here and I cannot help but feel a bit nostalgic.
September is also back to school month. It’s been a while since I experienced a Sunday evening buzzing with excitement for the first day of school. My uniform laid out next to me on a chair, my backpack ( usually larger than me) decorated with pins and keychains, and filled with books. The few minutes before falling asleep prior to the first day of school is a feeling I yearn to experience again. And when the need over consumes me, I turn to movies. I find peace in watching high school classics that make me feel like I am back in highschool; friendships, drama and crushes.... The Breakfast Club, Clueless, 10 Things I Hate About You, Mean Girls, The Princess Diaries, Pretty in Pink, Grease… The list goes on. Maybe it's the set schedule I crave, the clarity, the organization? Or maybe it's the simple and naive way friendships and relationships functioned back then. Who knows. But in any case, as we exchange our sandals for sneakers, or beach bags for backpacks, I wanted to come here and tell you one thing. September is going to be amazing! It will mark new beginnings and a fresh start where you will make way with confident steps towards the goals you have set for yourself.
