So basically, I love myself a glass of wine. I love myself a glass of prosecco. I love myself a cute cin-cin. So what better time, place and company than aperitivo in Rome with my boyfriend?
Here are six of the places we like going to:
Il Sorpasso
1. It's a cute little bar, where almost only Romans go. It does get pretty crowded after a point, but by then you’ll be off to dinner anyway.
2. It has an outdoor area but for me, the real kick of this place is to go around 18.00-18.30 and sit inside, at the bar, order some cheese and charcuterie, and a bottle of wine to share.
2. No need for reservation, just make sure to go a bit earlier.
3. Great date spot, intimate vibes.
4. Address: Via Properzio, 31/33, 00193 Roma RM, Italy
Cielo Rooftop Bar
1. Located on top of Hotel de la Ville, this is one of my favorite places in Rome - not just for the aperitivo but I guess the energy of the whole place does something to me.
2. An incredibly sweet rooftop bar and a great aperitivo spot.
3. I’m not a cocktail person but they do have original cocktails and a super sweet atmosphere; striped umbrellas, brick floor, a panoramic-ish view of Rome. Meraviglioso.
4. If I'm not mistaken, there is a DJ or live music around 19.00.
5. You’ll be fine if you get there by 18.00, but if you are too late, there won’t be any good tables left and it will get very crowded.
6. Casual, cute place. No need to overdress.
7. No need for reservation.
8. Address: Via Sistina, 69, 00187 Roma RM, Italy
Salotto 42
1. This, to me, is one of the most beautiful bars in Rome.
2. The Parliament building is nearby, so the Romans come here after work to grab a drink.
3. The crowd is super sweet, with a few outdoor seating options.
4. The best part is that you chill in front of an ancient Roman temple, and it is quite amazing.
5. Cocktails are awesome.
6. They bring an aperitivo plate along with your drink during aperitivo time if you ask for it, and you can also go here after dinner but I think the aperitivo is nicer - just a personal preference.
7. I would recommend making a reservation and specify that you would like to sit outside.
8. Address: Piazza di Pietra, 42, 00186 Roma RM, Italy
Ciampini Roma
1. It is a cafe that the Romans love very much. It's in a cute piazza with many many tables. Pizzas and a few snacks are also available here. They also have aperitivo plates.
2. If the weather is nice, it's extra nice, but even if it's bad, it's still cool.
3. This place doesn’t have a bar vibe though, it’s mostly a cafe-ish place but don’t get me wrong, it’s really nice.
4. Also - although you probably wouldn’t want to pair your drink with ice cream but they have really, really good gelato. My favorite is dark chocolate and hazelnut.
5. No need for reservation, but it’s always crowded so you might have to wait for 10-15 minutes.
6. PS: Very good for people watching.
7. Address: Piazza di San Lorenzo in Lucina, 29, 00186 Roma RM, Italy
Adele Mixology Lounge
1. You’ll get one of the most beautiful panaromic views of Rome.
2. It is located on the rooftop of Splendide Royale, a very chic hotel.
3. Relatively speaking, people come dressed more stylishly because the place is a bit fancier.
4. Perfect for drinking prosecco.
5. I’d suggest that you make a reservation.
6. Address: Via di Porta Pinciana, 14, 00187 Roma RM, Italy
Stravinskij Bar
1. The bar in the courtyard of Hotel de Russie, one of the most beautiful hotels in Rome.
2. Very great location, great ambiance, and great hotel, too.
3. Good cocktails.
4. Heads up - you might see a bit more tourists than locals, because the hotel is preferred by many.
5. I suggest that you make a reservation, because at times, they tend to reject entry without one.
6. Address: Via del Babuino, 9, 00187 Roma RM, Italy
